About Powerball X's and O's in Pennsylvania
The PA Lottery was super enthusiastic about this game in the run-up to the launch in September 2026 – no wonder, since the Keystone state has two NFL teams in the lineup. Will you be picking the Steelers, the Eagles, or both (or neither)?
How to play Powerball X's and O's in Pennsylvania
Powerball X's and O's costs $5 per play, but every dollar you spend equates to one entry into the supplementary second-chance game when you scan your tickets. For the main game, all you need to do is choose 8 NFL teams from the 32, and try to match as many as possible from the randomly-selected winning teams on the Sunday night draws. Match four or more teams to win a main-game prize!
Claiming prizes in Pennsylvania
If you've won a PA Lottery prize under $2,500, you'll be able to redeem it at any PA Lottery retailer provided they have the funds available at the store. Prizes over this threshold must be claimed at a Lottery Area Office, or by mail. Be sure to claim within the deadline of 1 year from the date of the draw, or else your claim will be declined. Pennsylvania doesn't allow winners to remain anonymous.
Procedure for Lost and Damaged Tickets
You must have the original, physical, intact lottery ticket in order to claim a prize with it. If you've lost it, you won't be able to claim any prizes. Damaged tickets can sometimes be redeemed, depending on the level of damage – you can try mailing yours off to the PA lottery, but it's not guaranteed that you'll get a payout.
Taxes due on prizes in Pennsylvania
In every state, a federal withholding of 24% is applicable to all prizes greater than $5,000. For PA prizes above $5,000, a 3.07% state tax is also applied. Thankfully, this is decidedly on the lower end of the spectrum – if you lived in New York, you'd be paying 10.9%!
