About Powerball X's and O's in Maryland

Check below for details on how to play and win Powerball X's and O's in Maryland. Which teams do you prefer picking for this game? We find that Maryland does particularly well whenever the Ravens are one of the eight winning teams for a draw. Hardly surprising!

How to play Powerball X's and O's in Maryland

Playing Powerball X's and O's is easy, costs just $5, and doesn't involve sports betting or predictions. Just pick 8 teams from the 32 in the NFL. If four or more of your picks match the random winning teams, you'll win a prize. Matching all eight teams wins you the jackpot, which starts at $1 million. Tickets can be scanned to enter second-chance draws, so hang onto them even if they didn't win.

Claiming prizes in Maryland

In Maryland, lottery winners have 182 days to claim prizes—two days longer than in most other states. While any MD Lottery retailer can cash tickets up to $600, larger payouts must be collected through an Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) location, a state casino, or the MD Lottery HQ in Baltimore. If you prefer to claim by mail, send your ticket to 1800 Washington Boulevard, Suite 330, Baltimore, MD 21230.

Procedure for Lost and Damaged Tickets

Always sign the back of your tickets to prove they belong to you, as you cannot claim a prize if an unsigned ticket goes missing. If you lose a signed winning ticket or have one so damaged it won't scan, contact the Maryland Lottery. They may look into your claim, but they are under no obligation to pay out.

Taxes due on prizes in Maryland

Maryland imposes some of the highest lottery tax rates in the U.S. On all prizes over $5,000, the state withholds 8.75% for non-residents and 9.5% for residents on top of the 24% federal withholding on prizes over $5,000. Additionally, while taxes aren't automatically withheld on winnings between $601 and $5,000, you must still report those amounts when filing your tax return.
