To play Powerball X's and O's, choose 8 NFL teams from the 32 available. This game is just like a regular lottery, so the winning teams are chosen at random (not based on performance!) every Sunday night at 9:00 PM CT. Matching four teams is the minimum requirement to win a prize, while matching all eight lands you a rolling jackpot that starts at $1 million!
Claiming prizes in Missouri
If you've won a MO Lottery prize, be sure to claim it within 180 days of the draw, or else it will expire. If you've won a prize up to $600, you can claim at any MO Lottery retailer. If you've won more than that, you'll need to pay a visit to the MO Lottery HQ in Jefferson City, or one of the regional offices in St. Louis, Springfield, or Kansas City (appointment required!). Prizes of any value can also be claimed by mail.
Procedure for Lost and Damaged Tickets
Unfortunately, it's not possible to claim prizes if you no longer have your lottery ticket. Signing your tickets does prevent others from using them to claim prizes, though, which is advised if you are worried about your tickets being stolen. It's sometimes possible to claim using slightly damaged tickets, provided they are still readable – mail them to the MO Lottery.
Taxes due on prizes in Missouri
If you've won a Powerball X's and O's prize worth over $600, the Missouri Lottery will withhold a 4% state lottery tax, and a further 24% federal tax is withheld on all prizes greater than $5,000. If you win big, you'll have the option to remain totally anonymous.
