About Powerball X's and O's in Indiana

This multi-state lottery draw game arrived in Indiana in September 2026 with the football season. It's $5 per ticket, with every dollar spent counting towards entries into supplementary prize promos and drawings.

How to play Powerball X's and O's in Indiana

All you need to do is choose 8 of the 32 NFL teams, and wait for the next draw (Sundays, 10:00 ET). It's like a regular lottery, but using the teams instead of numbers, so the winning teams are actually selected totally randomly. Match 4 or more teams to win a prize, and match all 8 teams to win the jackpot.

Claiming prizes in Indiana

If you've won a prize up to $600, you'll be able to claim it at any Hoosier Lottery retailer. Prizes up to $49,999 can be claimed at the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment Centers in Indianapolis, Mishawaka, or Evansville. For even bigger prizes, get in touch with the Lottery, and they'll advise you on how to claim. If you're out of the state, you can claim prizes up to $49,999 by mail. Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw in which to claim before prizes expire.

Procedure for Lost and Damaged Tickets

If you've lost your lottery ticket, it can unfortunately no longer be redeemed. Signing tickets will prevent people other than you from cashing them in, in case they're stolen. If you've slightly damaged your ticket but it is still legible, you may be able to get a prize still by mailing it to the Hoosier Lottery, but totally destroyed tickets cannot be cashed in.

Taxes due on prizes in Indiana

If you've won a prize greater than $5,000, you'll need to pay 24% federal tax on your winnings – same as every other state. In Indiana specifically, a state tax of 3.23% is retained on all prizes over $1,200. A low percentage compared to most other state taxes, but the prize value threshold is also lower to compensate.
